The Covid-19 Crisis And The Implications For Our Future

We are in a crisis situation that the world has never experienced before – and most of it is out of
our control! While COVID-19 originated in China; either in a street meat-market; or – as is now
being proposed as being a deliberate development in a laboratory (which clearly reveals the
depravity of human nature); it has effectively locked us up in our houses and shut down the
world!
We have never had a time like this when the whole world closed down; and what is so tragic is
that this crisis didn’t need to happen! It could have been stopped where it originated – if there had
been open honesty!
While our hearts go out to those who have been severely impacted by this virus through the loss
of loved ones, the loss of jobs and income; as well as by depression, fear and anxiety; yet there is
another deep and disturbing entity. It is a foreboding sense of the loss of human control!
People from every walk of life are sensing this and they are becoming very afraid. We feel our
world is changing – and there is a deepening cry for some kind of global government or a global
world order with universal tracking I.D. or a universal and mandatory law along with some
human “super-hero” to put it all together! We feel the need for “someone” to rescue us from
ourselves! Well, the Bible clearly describes such a one who will come and set up a world
government dictatorship! But, the Bible also describes our present times.
Jesus revealed that there would come a time in the last days – that “On earth, (there would be)
dismay among nations … people fainting from fear and in the expectation of what is coming upon
the world . . . there would be plagues and famines in various places along with terrors . . .”
The Apostle Paul writes: “In the last days, perilous times will come . . . “
Strange, isn’t it, how humans lose control so easily? Humanity faced the 20th century with great
optimism about what would be accomplished. Through science, we would enjoy inevitable
progress; there would be perfection through education and world freedom through democracy!
Yet, if the truth be known, we have created a culture of death and the 20th century has been the
bloodiest century in human history!
Perhaps it is now time to turn to the Lord Jesus Christ Who said: “I have come that you might
have life, and have it more abundantly”. He is the only One in whom we can trust – both in this
world and in the world to come!
In Him alone, we have forgiveness and the promise of life eternal in the “Father’s House”.
