“Love, love, love makes people happy.
Love, love, love makes people free. Love makes people do
the things they know they ought to do; Love is showing
others that you care.” REMEMBER THIS SONG?
Everyone is looking for this kind of love. Our hearts are made to love like that. What is love? In
the movies, it’s physical attraction and sex and fun. That may sell tickets, but proves messy.
People are “used” and get hurt. The Ancient Book of Wisdom says, “Love is patient..is
kind…does not envy..is not proud. It is not rude…not self-seeking…not easily angered. It keeps
no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth It always
protects…trusts…hopes…perserveres.”
That’s the kind of people any community needs.
What is it like without love? Shootings and fears in malls and in schools; parents quarrelling
and fighting and divorcing; children being abused and murdered; cursing and swearing, stealing
and raping; crying and bitterness as relationships are discarded carelessly. Breaking any of the
Ten Commandments generates guilt and smothers love.
How does 20/20 love work? Love is a gift Love is a decision—a choice. Love is learned. It’s
like a bank account. When the money is gone, deposits must be made.
Where will we get love when the emotional bank is empty? Seriously, what happens to people
when the love account has been in OVERDRAFT for years?
We know God our Father and Creator has a limitless amount of love! It’s FREE for the asking!
God is love. He alone can meet all needs for affirmation. He can help us with the
consequences of selfishness, ignorance or apathy. Jesus suffered and died for the guilt of our
disobedience. He has a total makeover in mind. His love then empowers us to keep on loving.
The next steps? TODAY talk with Go about your love account. Tell Him what you need and
how you desire to love again. Trust Him. Thank Him. Watch how you speak to people. Give
the love as defined by The Book (above).
Boys and girls, teens, adults and seniors can make the Shuswap a most loving place. Would
you like that?
